The Covid 19 scavenger
The government should walk the talk in the fight against covid-19. The current covid-19 pandemic has no doubt disrupted many lives of Kenyans. Lives and jobs have been lost and social life restricted through curfew and even ban on social gatherings such as weddings and parties. In fighting covid-19 pandemic, the government has spent millions of shillings on treatment, vaccination and cushioning Kenyans from recession through tax waiver and stipends. While we laud the government's effort in fighting covid-19, the upsurge in political meetings being witnessed in the country is a worrying trend, given that many people show up and some fail to observe the Covid-19 rules and protocols. For instance, the recent incident in Voi town, Taita Taveta county where a political rally was held by various politicians and the fact that the Covid-19 rules and protocols such as maintaining social distance and wearing of face masks not being observed is a sign that all is not well.
